Two live mentoring calls per month.

These will be hosted on Zoom. The first three mums to come onto the call and want to work with me will go onto the list and I will discuss issues openly and honestly, working on both mindset and strategies. There will be valuable tips and insights given so that everyone benefits. Sessions will be recorded and available to watch later.

Expert sessions with Q&A

These will be hosted on zoom. Experts will cover a range of topics such as toileting, sleeping, eating, speech, language, and communication. There will also be sibling support sessions. There will be time for your questions so that you receive information specific to your needs. Sessions will be recorded and available to watch later.

Bonuses
As part of ‘More Than a Mum’, you will access discounts to events and essential admin templates as well as live DLA sessions where we can complete the dreaded forms together.

With all of this covered, you’ll be able to

  • Manage your worries so that you can fully enjoy the time you spend with your family, not look back with regrets in the future or feel like you are failing.
  • Surround yourself with good people who understand you rather than those with unhelpful or hurtful comments so that you’re not having to waste precious energy proving or defending yourself.
  • Know what to ask and look for in a setting and how to manage transitions so that your child has the best start and support with their education and is happy.
  • Discuss options calmly and assertively with professionals so that you are more included in the decisions made for, and the progress of your child.
  • Reconnect with the adult you were before you became ‘mum’, laugh without guilt and make space for yourself so that you don’t feel resentful of life and have some fun and purpose outside of being a mum.

It took me over six years and a mental breakdown to feel happy in life! I am so excited to be helping you feel all the great stuff without the wasted time and cost to your sanity. I’m already proud of you!

Meet your mentor!

Have we met before?

I’m Charlie Beswick and I would be honoured to be your mentor!

In 2005 when my twin boys were born, I had no idea that Harry would have a rare craniofacial condition called Goldenhar syndrome. For him, this meant that he was born without any features on the left-hand side of his face, and I was instantly plunged into shock, grief, and fear. I was terrified that I wasn’t the mother this baby needed but didn’t feel that I could tell anyone, not even my fiancé. I just hid behind a smile, a coping mechanism that I now call ‘the lie we wear’

Back then there was little support for mothers who received a diagnosis for their child, and I got no help from professionals to help me understand what lay ahead for me and my family.
Over the next four years, Harry was diagnosed as autistic, my marriage ended, I had to reduce my teaching hours and I was diagnosed with depression.
It took time and a lot of inner work on my part to feel like I was a good mum and person again.
Sadly, support for mums hasn’t changed much since 2005. So now, having not only come to terms with a life altered by Harry’s diagnoses but as a woman who is thriving in my role as a mother, I want to ensure that no mum in a similar position to me ever feels as lost and alone as I did.

I want to support strong and healthy maternal well-being at the point of a child’s diagnosis and beyond, to empower mums to realise that their best is more than enough and love a life they may have never expected.

I believe that by mastering our emotions, finding our voices and making time for ourselves and others, we are not only happier women, but we become the mums our children deserve (‘special children’ aren’t sent to special mums but they certainly help to shape us) and we can support and fight for them much more effectively. It’s the system that’s broken, not you!

Finally, I am a lover of rhubarb gin and all cheese, hence the name of our group – plus, the name ‘S.E.N.D help and support’ sounded as dry as the Sahara and I choose fun over dull any day of the week!

FAQs

How much time do I need?
The pathway sessions won’t ever be longer than 30 minutes and recordings will be shared so there is no pressure to dedicate a certain number of hours. Obviously, the more you can discuss the thoughts and feelings that come up with the community, the more this will help you to process things but it’s important to do this at your own pace. This is NEVER designed to add to your workload, only reduce it!

What if I’m not on Facebook?
The pathway session, expert sessions, mentoring calls will be on zoom with recordings stored in your online membership area. Facebook will be the community where you can discuss and work through things that come up for you. If this part of the membership is important to you then you would need a Facebook account. You absolutely can access the rest without one.

What if I can’t afford the membership right now?
That’s absolutely fine! We have the free SEND Gin & Cheese community which is an amazing space and there are free downloads for you to read too. The membership empowers you to build your mental resilience and practical skills and you are welcome to join any time.

Can Dads join?
Not now. In the future, we are looking to support Dads but the membership focuses only on maternal mental well-being.

What if I change my mind?
There is a 14-day money back guarantee if you pay annually. If you pay monthly then you won’t be charged for months following the one in which you cancel your subscription as long as we have 5 working days notice to cancel.

Membership cancellation
If for any reason at all, you want to cancel the membership then email admin@sendginandcheese.org with your name and email address and we will cancel future payments. It’s that simple. I want you to love this programme as much as I do and if for any reason, that doesn’t happen then just let us know.

Why ‘More Than a Mum – The Empowerment Pathway’

  • You get lots of time with me and I get to know you and your family.
  • There are no other programmes which specifically focus on the mental health of mums and empower them to feel confident when their child is diagnosed.
  • There is nothing you can say or feel that I haven’t gone through too over the past 18 years. You will never feel alone or judged.

More Than a Mum: The Empowerment Pathway.

Important things to note.

Advice and support
I will support you from a place of experience and compassion, but I am not a qualified mental health practitioner and if you or I feel that you need more specialist support, let’s chat about that as a top-up or alternative if you need it.

Membership payments
If you join us with an annual payment, then this will renew on the one-year anniversary. If you pay a subscription, then this will renew on a monthly basis. Be sure to set this up on a date-specific basis rather than every 4 weeks as some months have 5 weeks so you will end up paying for 13 months.

Conduct of members
At times, mums may feel quite vulnerable during the process of excavating some tricky emotions. Because of this, members are prohibited from contacting each other to promote their own services or products. Doing so will result in removal from the group without a refund.

Privacy
There are strict rules that nothing can be shared outside of the group and Facebook members who are not in the membership will not be able to see your posts. If comments are made that are great testimonials for the membership, permission to share will be sought and names removed or changed.

Safeguarding
Lives like ours can sometimes be physically, mentally, and emotionally draining. We ask for a next of kin name and number when you join in the very unlikely event that we become worried about your own welfare and want to ensure you are safe. This would only ever be used in an emergency, but we take our duty of care very seriously in supporting you.

Progress
No guarantee is made about the impact or results achieved in this group.
I want you to find the empowerment and confidence you deserve and while this is simple, it’s not always easy and requires us to work together to move forward. We each have our role in creating a life you love. Let’s do this!
